Trading: should you venture into it?

Trading is an active style of participating in the financial markets, rather than trying to profit from long-term investments such as houses and the like, traders look for short-term price moves to profit in both rising and falling markets.

As a trader, one of the most important things you can do to improve your chances of success is to approach trading as a business. A successful trading business requires a strategic plan that covers your actual business and your actual trading. It is as simple as that, but let it be known that successful trading involves more than reading a few articles or books. You should plan on devoting a substantial amount of time and effort before ever placing a trade in a live market. This can be difficult because most new traders are anxious to get in the market. While the research and time commitments may seem like a turn-off, it cannot be denied that they are a realistic and essential part of becoming a profitable, independent trader.

Now, comes the question: should you?

Our answer would be a resounding yes. Trading is an opportunity for you to learn many things, in addition to enjoying some profits along the way. Some of the things you will learn include:
  1. perseverance

  5. the importance of relying on oneself
  6. the concept of thorough research
  7. how to exercise self-control
  8. the importance of being level-headed
  9. humility
  10. and so much more...
